Microsoft today revealed the new pen remoting feature available in the Remote Desktop Connection client (mstsc.exe) when connecting from a Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016 client to a host system running Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016. Eksternt Skrivebord/Remote desktop shows your desktop with all your folders and files. You can work as normal from your desktop. Windows Start menu: Click on the icon to the left. Contents • • 1. Overview of applications After login you can start the various applications. Remote App and Desktops Available applications: • Office 2013 (all of the Office tools in the folder) • Statistics (various statistics applications in the folder, like STATA and SPSS) • Adobe Reader (for PDF) • Calculator • Firefox (browser) • Thunderbird (email client for setup of IMAP settings) • Paint (photo editing software) • PuTTY (a terminal emulation program to log on to computers, routers or other devices that use Telnet, Rlogin eller SSH) • WordPad (simple word editor) • Remote Desktop ('Eksternt Skrivebord' in Norwegian - access to your desktop with files etc.) 3. Remote desktop You can access your desktop with files. • Click the icon for 'Eksternt Skrivebord'. See the screenshot below. Applies only to Firefox browser: • Select: Open With • Click: OK 3.1 Access to Remote Desktop Connection • Click: Connect Login Windows Security (applies only for Firefox browser) A login window for Eksternt Skrivebord (in Firefox) appears. • Username: [email protected] (entered in advance once you are logged in). • Password: Enter OsloMet password (the empty field). • Click: OK 3.2 Connecting Remote Desktop Connection 3.3 Eksternt Skrivebord - access to full desktop environment Eksternt Skrivebord/Remote desktop shows your desktop with all your folders and files. You can work as normal from your desktop. • Windows Start menu: Click on the icon to the left. • You now have access to your home and public directory and Office applications. See the screenshot below for an example of Remote Desktop / Eksternt Skrivebord. 3.4 Windows Start menu The Start menu provides access to various functions. 3.5 Disconnect Eksternt Skrivebord / Remote desktop Your open applications / windows remain open so you can log in and get them back up. • Click on the X to the right in the toolbar at the top of the desktop view. • Or click on Disconnect under the ON / OFF button. • If you want to exit / log off, see the next section below. 3.5 Log off/Sign out from Eksternt Skrivebord / Remote desktop • Click on your name to display the menu to log off / shut down. Eksternt Skrivebord For Mac• Click: Sign Out. Access to Office applications • Click on the folder «Office 2013» 4.1 Overview of Office 2013 applications Start an Office applications (applies only for Firefox) • Click on an icon to start an application, e.g. • Click: OK - to open an application. 4.2 Run the program • Click: Connect - to run the program. Login (applies only for Firefox) • Username is entered in advance once you are logged in, e.g. [email protected] • Password: Enter your OsloMet password • Click: OK • The program starts.
